‘His Beloved’ is a Life Group I lead every Wednesday at 7:30 P.M in Rockville, MD. Although this Life Group meets in person, I will be updating my blog each week with a recap of my Life Group meetings. The purpose of these recaps are to give those interested but unable to attend, an opportunity to still be a part of the journey! OR if you’re a small group leader, these recaps can also serve the purpose of giving you ideas for your life group! Our journey in this Life Group is to truly discover God’s love for us and our capability to love others. So, without rambling on any further welcome to ‘His Beloved’.

  1. M&M ICE BREAKER

Before we got the night started, we began with this M&M ice breaker. Each girl was given a small box of M&Ms. We all got three turns to pick three random M&Ms and answer the question that corresponds to the M&M color. This was a great way to get to know each other without the traditional, awkward ice breakers. I loved it!! We laughed, connected, and learned so much about each other.

2. LOVE DON’T LAUGH GAME

As you will see throughout this journey, love is at the center of our search. To begin the first meeting, we played the game called ‘love don’t laugh’. To play this game, I came up with a total of 5 popular love songs. One player chooses a song and has to READ the lyrics of the song in front of everyone. Whoever laughs first is ‘it’ and has to choose another one of the love songs to read. This game was hilarious! Especially when one of my girls got to a song that said “Aye” ten times straight, it was difficult to NOT laugh! The purpose of this game was mainly to introduce the topic of love with some fun!

In this Life Group, we discussed the purpose of His Beloved. For many of us we’ve had a form of exposure to the idea of God’s love or the importance of loving others as commanded by God (Matt. 22:36-40). Often the idea of God’s love is associated with his sacrifice for us, our identity as children of God or merely the fact that “The Bible Tells Me So”. But if we truly stop to think about the enormous, never ending love God pours out, our small little world would be flipped. It is not merely the idea of God’s love that is compelling but rather the nature of his love that is transforming.

1 Corinthians 13:13 states “13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love [MSG].” In other words, love is the greatest because nothing fruitful can be done without love. This kind of love is not a limited, selfish love but rather a sacrificial love that screams “above all, I will choose Jesus”. When love for God is prioritized, all other struggles and circumstances are diminished not because of delusion but because of the power of God’s love. I mean think about it, there is no way you can experience the love of a true living God without falling head over heels in love with him and essentially, being drunk in love. Too in love to care about the cost, too in love to hurt his heart or betray your relationship, and even too in love to prioritize other things.

God’s love for you is enormous yet intimate. Raging but yet often felt in a whisper.

During these three months, my hope is that you would gain a greater revelation of God’s complete love for you as his beloved and to be empowered to love his creation as we are called. Before we can ever love, we must first be met by love. So next week we will search and discuss the wonder of God’s love for us.

On this particular Wednesday, it was extremely rainy out so I decided to have a hot chocolate bar with whipped cream and pastry goodies. Also, we are so close to fall so what better way to celebrate than fall scented candles and hot chocolate! 🙂

Until next time loves,

Miss Suazo
